How CompTIA exam vouchers work
A CompTIA exam voucher is a one-time-use code that lets you book and sit an exam at any Pearson VUE testing centre, or online via Pearson OnVUE proctoring. The voucher is the financial credit that pays for the exam fee. You still schedule the exam separately using the code.
The four-step process
- 1
Buy the voucher
Pay through Stripe. The voucher code is emailed to you, usually within minutes, always within 24 hours of payment.
- 2
Create a CompTIA candidate account
Sign in at CompTIA Central if you do not have one already. This is where your test history, certificate, and digital badge will live.
- 3
Schedule your exam
Choose a Pearson VUE testing centre near you (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, Canberra, Hobart, Darwin, and most regional capitals) or Pearson OnVUE for online-proctored at home.
- 4
Sit the exam
Bring photo ID. The voucher is consumed when you sit. Your result is delivered to your CompTIA candidate account within minutes.
Voucher validity and refunds
Once issued, a CompTIA voucher is valid for 12 months from the date of purchase. After 12 months it expires and cannot be redeemed. You can schedule and reschedule the exam within that window as many times as you need, with no first-booking lock-in. Unused, unredeemed vouchers are refundable for 7 days from purchase, less a 10% admin fee. Once a voucher has been redeemed at CompTIA Central it cannot be refunded.
What happens if you fail
The voucher is one-time-use. If you do not pass, you would need to buy a new voucher for the retake. Mindset Cyber offers a Retake Assurance package ($799 AUD ex GST) that bundles the voucher with a free second-attempt voucher if you do not pass the first time. CompTIA requires a 14-day waiting period between attempts (this is the retake gap, not a refund window), and there is no additional payment required from you if you are on Retake Assurance.
